Kit includes: 1 CodeX handheld device, USB-C cable, Brain Decoded peripheral components (LEDs, resistors, pushbutton, potentiometer, jumper wires, breadboard), and carrying case.
Recommended for Grades 4-12. Cross-curricular: Computer Science + Neuroscience.
Where Neuroscience Meets Coding
Brain Decoded fuses neuroscience and computing into one hands-on experience. Students use Python and real electronic peripherals to simulate how the brain works - from individual neurons firing to neurotransmitter effects on mood and behavior to muscle response times.
This isn't a biology textbook with a coding chapter bolted on. Every mission uses Python code running on CodeX to model real neuroscience concepts, with LEDs, buttons, and sensors standing in for neurons, synapses, and muscles.
What Students Explore
- Neuron simulation - code a working neuron model, build neural chains, and test network connections
- Neurotransmitters - simulate how chemical signals affect neural behavior using potentiometers and code
- Reflexes and reaction time - measure and analyze human response times with real sensors
- Brain-body connection - model how signals travel from brain to muscle using LEDs and actuators
- Physical computing - wire up breadboard circuits with LEDs, resistors, buttons, and sensors
This kit includes the Brain Decoded Digital Textbook - 5 missions with 27 objectives and 5 quizzes of scaffolded, cross-curricular curriculum delivered through CodeSpace, paired with the CodeX handheld device.
Explore the TextbookIncludes 1-year floating seat access (unlimited students) with curriculum access through CodeSpace.
Powered by CodeSpace
All curriculum runs on CodeSpace - our browser-based Python learning platform. Students learn, code, and debug right in the browser. Chromebook compatible. Includes a Teacher Dashboard for progress tracking.
