Haunted Code Chronicles - Free Mission Pack
Haunted Code Chronicles
A six-mission Python adventure through a haunted house. Students code their way room by room, using the CodeBot simulator.
About this Free Mission Pack
Welcome to the Haunted Code Chronicles, where coding meets the eerie and unknown! As the fog rolls in and the shadows lengthen, prepare to guide your CodeBot through mysterious mazes and terrifying trials, each more thrilling than the last.
Six missions take students room by room through a haunted house, from the front porch all the way up to the attic. The pack is designed for all levels, beginner to advanced, and no hardware is required. Every mission runs in the built-in CodeBot simulator right in the browser.
Teachers can request a free license, which unlocks the dashboard so you can set up a class, track student progress, and control access to the missions. Have students work independently at their own pace, or teach from the lesson plans and activity guides. You can even run your own class competition and print certificates!
Will you conquer the haunted halls and emerge victorious, or will the darkness consume you? There's only one way to find out. Join us if you dare!

Missions in this Pack
- ▸ Mission 1: The Front Porch: Students get oriented in CodeSpace, find the CodeBot's motors and LEDs, and write their first Python to light the way, spin in place, chase off spiders, and dash through the front door.
- ▸ Mission 2: The Living Room: Popcorn, a dark room, and a chasm to cross. Students work with the light sensor, try out the REPL, use waits and timing, and sneak across the room without waking anything up.
- ▸ Mission 3: The Kitchen: A crash course in how computers count. Students brush up on binary, convert booleans to bits, decode a ghastly hex message, line up the jack-o-lanterns, and escape.
- ▸ Mission 4: The Hallway: Students use the CodeBot's line sensors to detect spots on the floor, store readings in a list, and follow a trail through the dark hallway.
- ▸ Mission 5: The Library: Lamps, sequences, and loops. Students light the library lamps in a cycle, code a repeating sequence, climb the wallpaper, and ramp up the speed.
- ▸ Mission 6: The Attic: The finale. Students chart a course, meet the Turing car, tour the attic trinkets, and decode both Morse code and ASCII to make their escape.
Getting Started
As an educator, you have two ways to offer this course:
