Soar into Summer Learning: Free CS PD with Firia Labs & WeTeach_CS

WeTeach_CS is partnering with Firia Labs, a Preferred Curriculum and PD Provider, to offer a free 4-day professional development workshop focused on computer science, coding, and STEM integration. This in-person training will be held June 23–26, 2025, at the Alpine Public Library in Alpine, Texas.

Designed specifically for West Texas educators teaching science, math, robotics, or computer science, this workshop provides a supportive hands-on environment to explore Python programming and physical computing—no prior experience required. Firia Labs’ tools are built for educators at all levels, making it easy to learn and apply new skills in your classroom. Participants will also gain valuable skills and confidence to help pursue the TExES Computer Science 8–12 Certification.

Cost: Free!
Stipend: $300/day for each day of participation (4 days total)

Course Description

Are you ready to embark on a transformative journey into computer science education? Join us for an enriching professional development experience designed to equip you with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to confidently teach computer science. Through engaging lessons in Python coding, interactive projects with the CodeX device and CodeAIR drone, and a deep dive into key computer science concepts, you'll gain practical experience that directly translates to the classroom. Whether you're new to coding or looking to enhance your teaching, this PD will empower you to inspire the next generation of problem solvers and innovators. This training covers three key aspects: CodeX Missions 1-10, CodeAIR Missions 1-6, and receive guidance TExES Computer Science Certification Test Domains II and III Competencies.
